According to the statement made by the university, the program, which started with a mehter show, offered a rich experience in the axis of history, culture and art, with its content ranging from a history talk to Ottoman cuisine tasting, from a Turkish art music concert to a special exhibition compiling rare historical documents.

As part of the event, the exhibition “Fatih – In Pursuit of a City”, prepared by Silahtarağa Archive and Energy Museum and bringing together rare documents selected from the Ottoman Archives and Topkapı Palace collections, was presented to the visitors. Prepared with digital restoration work carried out by the Silahtarağa Archive and Energy Museum team, the exhibition treats the conquest of Istanbul not only as a military victory but as a historical transformation shaped by strategy, engineering and leadership.

The selection, which extends from the intellectual world of Mehmet the Conqueror to the Shahi cannons, from the construction process of the Rumeli Fortress to the transformation of Hagia Sophia, reinterprets the conquest from a different perspective. The exhibition includes rare documents such as decrees, conquests, certificates and property books, as well as original works bearing the signature of Mehmet the Conqueror.

The exhibition can be visited free of charge at the Tatilistanbul Campus Energy Museum until July 3. – The transformation process of Istanbul after the conquest was discussed. In the interview, the process of reconstructing Istanbul after 1453, establishing a multicultural living order, and turning the city into a center of science, education, trade and culture were discussed. The program ended with a Turkish classical music concert titled “Istanbul and Music in Cinuçen Tanrıkorur’s Compositions” held in memory of Cinuçen Tanrıkorur, following the Ottoman cuisine tasting prepared by Istanbul Bilgi University Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department.

Başar, whose views at the event were included in the statement, stated that Fatih Sultan Mehmet was not only a great commander who conquered Istanbul, but also a versatile ruler who left his mark in the fields of science, engineering, architecture, literature and law. Başar stated that the conquest of Istanbul, which had been the dream of many nations for centuries and was besieged many times, was possible thanks to the vision, knowledge and determination of Sultan Mehmet the Conqueror.
