Journalist Mehmet Akif Ersoy was detained within the scope of a drug investigation carried out by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, and was then arrested on December 11, 2025 and sent to prison. The indictment prepared against the detained Ersoy and the seven suspects accompanying him has been completed. The indictment prepared by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office included many accusations against Ersoy.
UP TO 65 YEARS OF PRISON WAS REQUESTED In the prepared indictment, it was requested that Ersoy be sentenced to a total of up to 65 years in prison for the crimes of establishing and managing a criminal organization, trafficking or supplying drugs or stimulants, and facilitating drug use. The indictment also requested that Ersoy be punished for 11 separate sexual assault crimes. It was learned that journalist Ersoy, along with other suspects, will appear before the judge in the coming days if the court accepts the indictment.
“VEYSI ATEŞ MADE ME TAKE TO DRUGS” Ersoy, who claimed in his statement that Veysi Ateş got him used to drugs, used the following statements: “Veysi Ateş would come to visit me before and sit and chat. However, this time he brought drugs with him. I saw drugs there for the first time in my life. “Then we talked about what the drug is and its effects.”
