Automatic transmission vehicles continue to be the clear leader in the Turkish automobile market. According to 2026 data, 97.

Transmission preferences in the Turkish automotive market have changed rapidly in recent years. While vehicles with automatic transmission have become decisive in the market in terms of both model diversity and sales performance, the share of cars with manual transmission is gradually shrinking. According to industry data, 97.5 percent of the cars sold in Turkey in the first five months of 2026 will be models with automatic transmission.

The share of manual transmission vehicles in sales decreased to 2.5 percent. A similar picture stands out in model-based reviews. Only 10 of the approximately 290 car models offered for sale in Turkey have a manual transmission option. This shows that the share of manual transmission models in the total product range decreased to 3.7 percent. While the rate of manual transmission vehicles in the market was 17.1 percent in 2020, this rate showed a significant decrease in a few years.

With automatic transmission vehicles becoming more common, manual options have increasingly been relegated to a limited niche. Segment-Based Distribution Supports the Dominance of Automatic Transmission While the rate of vehicles with automatic transmission reached 100 percent in the A, D and E segments, this rate was recorded as 99.7 percent in the F segment. Automatic vehicle sales were 98.6 percent in the B segment and 96.4 percent in the C segment.

The rise of electric vehicles in the market was among the factors that accelerated this transformation. While there is no manual transmission system in fully electric models, the predominance of automatic systems in hybrid vehicles is noteworthy. According to expert data, vehicles with manual transmission are no longer an alternative in many segments, while models with automatic transmission have become standard. The decrease in price differences and the spread of automatic technologies are also among the factors affecting consumer preferences.
