The naming is changing in Samsung’s new generation horizontal folding phone family. According to the latest leaks, the classic model, which is expected to be called Galaxy Z Fold 8, will come under the name Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. The names Galaxy Z Wide Fold and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide, which are spoken for the wider folding new model, will be replaced by a simpler Galaxy Z Fold 8. Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and the new Fold model may appear on the scene in July.

Samsung is expected to introduce two different horizontally folding flagships in July. In the new report originating from Weibo, it is stated that the model, which has been expected to be called Galaxy Z Fold 8 until now, will be called Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. This model will be positioned as the version of the series with more powerful hardware. According to leaks, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra will come with a 5,000 mAh battery.

The phone will feature a triple rear camera setup. This model, which continues Samsung’s current Fold line, will be available to users as the top-equipped option of the series. The other member of the family will be the new model that folds wider. The names Galaxy Z Wide Fold and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide were previously mentioned for this device. According to the latest information, Samsung will launch this model directly under the name Galaxy Z Fold 8.

Thus, the Fold 8 name will not disappear completely, it will just be moved to a different model. There will be some differences on the hardware side in the new large folding model. According to leaks, the device will have two rear cameras and no telephoto camera. Battery capacity will be 4,800 mAh. While the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra uses a triple camera and a 5,000 mAh battery, the larger model, which will be called the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8, will have a different technical line.

A new selfie camera design is also expected on the outer screen side of the two new foldable phones. According to reports and render images, the front camera will be significantly smaller compared to previous models. It is stated that the same camera approach may be carried to the Galaxy S27 series next year. Samsung’s naming change coincides with the foldable iPhone claims on the Apple side. Reports state that Apple will offer the first foldable iPhone model under the name iPhone Ultra instead of iPhone Fold.

It is claimed that this model will be introduced at the same time as the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. It is said that Samsung will open a new page on the naming side in the Galaxy S27 series. According to the latest information, a model called Galaxy S27 Pro is being worked on. It is reported that this device will offer some of the hardware found in the Galaxy S27 Ultra in a smaller body, and S Pen support may not be included in this model.

The picture regarding the Galaxy Z Fold 8 family is currently shaped by leaks. Since there is no official statement from Samsung, model names and technical details may change until the launch. However, recent reports reveal that the company will renew the usual line in both design and naming in its foldable phone series.
