Toyota Hilux will be available for sale in Turkey in August with its 9th generation. The pick-up model, which has sold more than 27 million units worldwide, will enter the Turkish market with its new design, 48V mild hybrid supported diesel engine, advanced off-road technologies and renewed cabin. The front section includes thin LED headlights, a horizontal section with a large TOYOTA lettering in the middle, a honeycomb-patterned front grille, a renewed bumper structure, fender designs, side steps and new alloy wheels. There is also a new step detail at the rear of the model that facilitates access to the chassis. In the 9th generation of Hilux, the body-on-chassis structure is preserved. The model continues with dimensions close to the previous generation.
The new Hilux has a length of 5,320 mm, a wheelbase of 3,085 mm, a width varying between 1,855 mm and 1,885 mm depending on the equipment, and a height varying between 1,865 mm and 1,880 mm. There is a completely renewed interior on the cabin side. A 12.3-inch digital display screen and a 12.3-inch multimedia screen are used in the horizontal console layout, which bears traces from the Land Cruiser. Depending on the hardware level, JBL sound system, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, wireless charging, dual-zone air conditioning, heated seats and leather upholstery options are offered.
Preserving physical controls allows the driver to directly access basic functions in off-road use. The main engine option of the new Hilux coming to Turkey includes a 2.8-liter turbo diesel unit supported by 48V mild hybrid technology. The four-cylinder engine produces 204 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. The engine is offered with automatic transmission and 4×4 traction system. 48V mild hybrid system; It consists of lithium-ion battery, electric motor-generator and DC-DC converter.
The system provides electrical support to the diesel engine, especially during starting and acceleration. The announced average fuel consumption varies between 7.2 liters and 7.6 liters per 100 kilometers. Hilux maintains its capacity for business-oriented use in the new generation. The model comes with a carrying capacity of up to 1 ton and a towing capacity of 3,500 kilograms. These values are among the basic technical data for users in the pick-up class who need to carry both commercial use and heavy loads.
On the off-road capabilities side, there is 310 mm ground clearance, 29-degree approach angle and 24-degree departure angle. The new Hilux can pass through water up to 700 mm deep. Since the 48V hybrid system components are positioned to withstand terrain conditions, the ability to pass through water is maintained. The model also includes a Multi-Terrain Mode system. Traction and power transfer can be adjusted according to different surfaces such as mud, sand, snow and rocks.
The four-camera Off-Road Monitor helps the driver see the vehicle’s surroundings on challenging trails. The panoramic vision system is also activated in parking and narrow space maneuvers. The third generation Toyota Safety Sense package is offered as standard in the new Toyota Hilux. Lane Tracking System, Front Collision Prevention System, Adaptive Cruise Control, Emergency Steering Support, Emergency Driving Stop System and Proactive Driving Support are among the safety equipment.
The detection system covers pedestrians, cyclists, motorcycles and other vehicles. Blind Spot Warning System, Safe Exit Assistant and Parking Assist Brake System are also included in the security package of the new Hilux. The electrically assisted steering system is on the list as one of the important mechanical innovations added to the new generation model. Toyota’s global product plan also includes fully electric and hydrogen fuel cell versions for the new Hilux.
The fully electric Hilux BEV was introduced with a 59.2 kWh lithium-ion battery, two electric motors producing 205 Nm of torque at the front and 269 Nm at the rear, permanent four-wheel drive, 715 kg carrying capacity and 1,600 kg towing capacity. A 2028 calendar has been given for the hydrogen fuel cell Hilux version. The prominent version for the Turkish market will be the Hilux with a 2.8-liter 48V mild hybrid diesel engine.
The new generation model will hit Türkiye’s roads in August.
