The Spanish conglomerate led by Airbus introduced the industrial program of the new Integrated Combat Training System (ITS-C) developed for the Spanish Air and Space Force. Within the scope of the program, the contract was signed in December 2025. The new system will replace Spain’s F-5 fleet and will be implemented with national industry participation. The ITS-C program is based on the joint development agreement signed between the main contractor Airbus and TAI.
In this context, TAI will provide HÜRJET training aircraft. The program covers the entire advanced training process of Spanish fighter pilots. In this context, the HÜRJET fleet of 30 aircraft will be customized according to Spanish specifications and these aircraft will be named “SAETA II”. The program also includes an integrated support package that includes operations and maintenance services. Two-phase program: In the first phase of the program, which will start in 2028, 21 aircraft are planned to be delivered.
One of these aircraft will be used as a prototype by Airbus for the integration of next-generation avionics and mission equipment. During the same period, the development and production of the ground-based education system will continue. The system is aimed to be put into service in the 2029-2030 academic year. In the second phase, the first 21 aircraft delivered and the 9 additional aircraft ordered will be brought into compliance with Spanish standards and the simulators will be updated according to this new version.
Deliveries of the SAETA II variant and ground-based training system are planned to be carried out between 2031-2035.
