ANTALYA (AA) – HATİCE ÖZDEMİR TOSUN – Member companies of the Western Mediterranean Exporters Association (BAİB), which includes Antalya, Isparta and Burdur, will visit a commercial delegation in the fresh fruit, vegetable and marble sectors in order to increase exports in Hungary and the Czech Republic. BAİB President Mehmet Ali Can told the AA correspondent that the visits of foreign trade delegations within the scope of the Supporting the Development of International Competitiveness Project (URGE) carried out by the Ministry of Commerce played an active role in increasing exports.

Explaining that, as BAİB, they participate in URGE Projects every year in order to both discover new markets and increase the share in existing markets, Can noted that they have reaped the fruits of this. Stating that 13 company representatives from the natural stone and marble sector went to Casablanca, Morocco, under the leadership of BAİB in the past weeks, Can said that they had more than 200 meetings and achieved productive results.

Stating that they are preparing an URGE program in the fresh fruit, vegetable and marble sectors for the coming days, Can stated that they will go to Hungary and the Czech Republic in June and July. Can stated that they will visit both countries with companies operating especially in the fresh fruit, vegetable and marble sectors. – Exports to both countries increased compared to the previous year. Stating that as BAIB, they exported 14 million 805 thousand dollars to Hungary last year, Can said that they achieved an increase of 52.3 percent last year compared to the previous year.

Pointing out that they increased exports in the Czech Republic by 18.1 percent, Can said that they made sales of 8 million 85 thousand dollars to the Czech Republic last year. Emphasizing that they want to further increase exports in these countries with URGE, Can said: “Our main markets are Germany, Russia, Romania. Hungary and the Czech Republic are also important for us. Therefore, we will visit our friends there to further increase our existing exports.

If we achieve a 10-15 percent increase in each region we visit, we see it as a great gain for us. Because we need to look at the total. We do not go to just one region in a year. There are Hungary and distant countries. Since the European Union is already a little closer, we travel to these places more frequently.” We do this, every plus point is very valuable to us wherever we go. Making even the slightest increase in the existing areas will yield positive results for both our union and our country.”
