ERZURUM (AA) – İLHAMİ ERKILIÇ – 60-year-old Abdurrahman Karadaş, who suffers from hypertension and diabetes in Erzurum, was saved from dialysis with the kidney transplanted from his wife of 38 years and experienced a double holiday joy on Eid al-Adha. Karadaş, a father of four children who has been suffering from diabetes and hypertension for 15 years, was diagnosed with advanced kidney failure a year ago. Thereupon, Karadaş applied to Atatürk University Research Hospital Organ Transplantation Training Research and Application Center for cadaver transplantation.
Şekernaz Karadaş, his wife of 38 years, volunteered to donate her kidney to Karadaş, who underwent dialysis three days a week and whose social life was negatively affected due to his illness. When the tissues were found to be compatible in the tests performed at the hospital, Organ Transplantation Center Director Assoc. Dr. The team led by Necip Altundaş transplanted one of the kidneys of 56-year-old Şekernaz Karadaş to her husband.
Thanks to the kidney donated by his life partner, Abdurrahman Karadaş regained his health, survived dialysis and experienced a double holiday happiness on Eid al-Adha. Mr. Abdurrahman, whose transplantation operation was successful, is now in a very good condition. Laboratory values returned to normal, urine output increased to a sufficient level. His wife’s condition is also very good.” he said.

Stating that he was miserable during the dialysis process, Karadaş said: “Thankfully, I am fine after the transplant. My children also wanted to donate organs, but my wife did not allow it.

I would like to thank my wife first, then the teachers. Stating that his father’s social life and quality of life were deteriorated due to dialysis, Karadaş said, “During this process, my mother thought that my father could not continue his life this way. Therefore, he decided to donate a kidney. We researched the transplant center and its doctors, especially our teacher Necip, and decided to have surgery. My father is no longer on dialysis. “My mother gave my father and us a holiday gift.” he said.
