Keenetic Türkiye announced that it will expand its product ecosystem with network switches after modem-router and Wi-Fi solutions. The company plans to gradually introduce its first switch models to the Turkish market in June. The new product group will focus on the unmanaged switch category in the first stage. According to Keenetic’s statement, the product family will include 5 and 8 port models, as well as 2.5G switch options, 16 and 24 port models and PoE supported switch solutions.
On the unmanaged switch side, 1 Gigabit and 2.5 Gigabit options are coming. Vefa Tarhan, CEO of Keenetic Turkey, stated that not only the basic connection need is needed in the network switch market; He stated that topics such as speed, performance, service quality and ease of use have become more important. According to Tarhan, 10/100 Mbps solutions, which were common in the past, are now being replaced by 1 Gigabit and 2.5 Gigabit level products.
Unmanaged switch models are preferred especially for home users, small offices, camera systems, IPTV devices, digital boxes and IoT installations. Since these products work without requiring configuration, they can provide lower operation costs and easy installation advantages for users with limited technical knowledge. Keenetic focuses on durability and ease of use in its new switch models. It has been announced that Keenetic’s new switch models will include hardware details such as metal casing, solid capacitors, electrical protection and grounding connection.
These features aim for longer life and more stable operation, especially for camera systems that operate 24/7, small business networks, and home networks that remain constantly active. The company also states that it will offer QoS support in the products. QoS ensures the prioritization of delay-sensitive packets such as voice, video and games in network traffic. It is planned to offer port-based prioritization in some models, and more flexible traffic management with DSCP and 802.1p support in some models.
Practical features such as loop detection and night mode will be available. The new switch family will also include loop detection, that is, network loop protection. This feature aims to prevent the entire network from crashing by detecting network loops that may occur due to incorrect cable connection. Such protection mechanisms are of practical importance, especially in small offices and environments without technical personnel.
According to Keenetic’s statement, some models will also have usage details such as Kensington security slot, magnetic mounting kit, cable management, multi-colored port lights and night mode. The magnetic mounting kit allows the switch to be placed on metal surfaces without using screws; Night mode will be used to dim or turn off LED lights. Market competition will be shaped by price and product details. The Switch market is an area where intense price competition occurs, especially in entry-level 5 and 8 port models.
Therefore, how Keenetic will be positioned in this category will become clear with the price level of the products, warranty conditions, local availability and actual usage performance. The company’s entry into the unmanaged switch market can be considered as part of Keenetic’s goal of establishing a broader network equipment ecosystem in Turkey, not only on the modem-router side. However, its response on the user side will depend on the price-performance balance, especially 2.5G, PoE, QoS and durability features.
