The Backrooms Movie Review

First of all, let me state this: I am a die-hard dreamcore fan. I normally love the uncanny, familiar yet foreign, dream-like atmosphere created by this concept.

First of all, let me state this: I am a die-hard dreamcore fan. I normally love the uncanny, familiar yet foreign, dream-like atmosphere created by this concept. I went to the screen with excitement to breathe the air of the first short videos on the Kane Parsons channel, but to be honest, the movie did not add anything to me. There is nothing more than a plain internet video we know. Not a single bit of new information has been added to the mythology or the story.

It’s a pity that the potential is exactly this. I Really Don’t Understand Why There Are Characters. The biggest flop in the movie is definitely the characters. It is never clear why there is a character in this movie, what is the need for it, what is its purpose. We didn’t come here to watch human drama! Let the camera wander by itself in the empty corridors, let’s experience the claustrophobic atmosphere alone… It would be much more reactionary and fit for purpose.

Putting a person there and walking behind him with a camera undermined the whole mystery and feeling of this work. 1 Hour and 40 Minutes Passed Like an Ordeal Time management is a complete disaster. 1 hour and 40 minutes is really, really long for this concept. What are you talking about and making it take so long? Damn, if it was a short film/medium feature of at most 40 minutes, it would be enjoyable and keep the tension alive.

They kept trying but couldn’t finish it. The Film with its Good and Bad Aspects What I Liked Aspects That Disgraced The parts we visited in Backrooms: The corridor designs, the familiar yellow walls and the feeling of the spaces are very good, they captured the atmosphere. Daily life parts: Every moment they tried to connect the story to the outside world was incredibly empty, unnecessary and boring. Technical management: The direction and cinematography are literally a disgrace.

They could neither adjust the angles properly nor provide claustrophobic cinematography, especially in the daily life parts. In summary: It was far below my expectations. The 10-15 minute amateur concept videos on YouTube have much better cinematography and atmosphere than this movie with a huge budget. Was it necessary to go through this ordeal for 1 hour and 40 minutes just to see those yellow rooms with a more professional production?

I don’t think there was.
