Doruk Mining workers, affiliated with Yıldızlar SSS Holding, set out to protest in Ankara again on the grounds that they could not collect their remaining receivables. Miners encountered police obstacles while continuing their march in Ankara’s Beypazarı district. In its statement on the issue, the Independent Mining Workers’ Union said, “We burned the ships, there is no turning back. Three ministries cannot control a holding company.” he said.
The union also called on citizens to show solidarity in front of Yıldızlar SSS Holding at 12:00 on Thursday. THE ACTION STARTED AGAIN ON JUNE 1. Following the protests that took place in April and had a great impact throughout Turkey, the employer had promised to pay Doruk Madencilik workers under the guarantee of the ministries of Labor, Internal Affairs and Energy. However, despite the promises, the workers could not collect their receivables.
Thereupon, the workers announced in their statement before the holiday that they would restart the protests as of June 1 and started a march to reach Ankara. CALL FROM WORKERS TO CITIZENS While the workers continued their march in Beypazarı, they encountered police obstacles and tension occurred in the region. Following the events, the Independent Mining Labor Union made the following statement on its social media account: “They threatened our buses and drivers.
They canceled our buses going to Ankara. They blocked us so that the workers whose rights were usurped did not go to Ankara. Whose edict is this edict? We call on all our people to show solidarity and resistance in front of Yıldızlar SSS Holding at 12:00 on Thursday.”
