KAHRAMANMARAŞ (AA) – Within the scope of the social responsibility project prepared by Türkoğlu Municipality in Kahramanmaraş, figures reflecting the city’s history, culture and national values are painted on the retaining walls in the district. Within the scope of the application, retaining walls are transformed into open-air art spaces with paintings reflecting historical and cultural elements and themes ingrained in social memory.

Türkoğlu Mayor Mehmet Karaca told the AA correspondent that the retaining walls were decorated with pictures depicting the city’s traditional professions, historical and cultural values. Expressing that with the drawn pictures, the retaining walls throughout the district have become a huge canvas by getting rid of their cold concrete appearance, Karaca said, “We are embroidering on our walls various cartoon characters that will attract the attention of our children, especially the Sütçü İmam, one of the symbolic figures of Kahramanmaraş’s War of Independence, the Lion of Maraş, the yemeni and mayam seller figures representing our traditional professions, the spirit of July 15, and our feelings of brotherhood and solidarity with Palestine.” he said.
