Speaking at the opening of the program, Yılmaz said that June 6, Penitentiary Personnel Day, celebrated for the first time across the country, is a manifestation of the loyalty to the invisible but indispensable heroes of justice services, the value the state attaches to its personnel, and the deep-rooted institutional knowledge of the organization. Stating that penal enforcement services are often evaluated only in terms of security by the public, Yılmaz stated that penal institutions and probation directorates are important public institutions that contribute to the re-preparation of convicts and detainees for social life.
Stating that the personnel working in penal institutions make significant contributions to the education and rehabilitation processes of convicts and detainees, as well as ensuring the security and order of the institution, Yılmaz continued as follows: They represent our state’s understanding of justice on the field by combining the determination required by their duties with a human-oriented approach and a high understanding of profession.
Our personnel working in our probation directorates work with great devotion to ensure that convicts reintegrate into society, develop a sense of responsibility, and continue their lives without committing crimes again.
