According to the statement made by the company, within the scope of the relevant regulations, only QR code packaging containing e-KT will be used in eligible products, excluding exempt products. Abdi İbrahim, which early adapted to the e-KT application that will become mandatory as of January 1, 2027, continues to expand the transformation process across its product portfolio.

In line with the regulation of the Turkish Medicines and Medical Devices Agency (TITCK) affiliated to the Ministry of Health for the electronic access of instructions for use on medicine boxes, the company launched its first products containing e-KT and started the gradual transition process in its product portfolio as of June. Thanks to the application, users will be able to access current e-CTs digitally by scanning the QR codes on medicine boxes with their smart devices.

As part of the transformation, the company aims to reduce paper consumption by gradually removing printed instructions, reduce its carbon footprint and bring digitalization together with environmental sustainability targets. Focusing on digitalization and environmental sustainability, the QR Code Project stands out as a project that is compatible with Abdi İbrahim’s goal of transforming into a low-carbon company within the scope of the “HEAL2050” Sustainability Strategy.

By removing printed instructions for use, the company aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions of approximately 2,500 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) annually.
