HAKKARI (AA) – SAYIM HARMANCI – Balkan and Turkish champion 17-year-old wrestler Havin Selçuk aims to add the Olympic podium to her career after the European and world championships. Havin, a 12th grade student at Sports High School, experienced the excitement of wearing the national jersey for the first time at the International Victory Tournament in Antalya last year. Havin, who came first in the Under-17 Women’s Wrestling Balkan Championship in Romania, continues her training at the Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports gym under the management of her coaches Veysi Duman and Recep Çelik.
Havin Selçuk told the AA correspondent that she wanted to be successful in wrestling, which she started after being influenced by her friend, and said, “I have achieved some of my goals, but I still have a European and world championship goal. Then I have an Olympic goal.” he said. Stating that children take him as an example, Havin continued: “I would love young people and children to turn to sports. Success came to me with ambition.
My coaches were very helpful. I owe these successes to them and my family. There were many people who supported us on the path to success. I would like to thank our Hakkari Governorship, the Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports, my coaches and my family for their support. Like my coaches, I want to be a coach and train athletes. “The achievements I have achieved make me proud, but I have more goals.” – “It has reached the maximum level this year” Coach Veysi Duman emphasized that they are very hopeful about their athletes and that they are making efforts to take them to better places.
Explaining that they want to raise champion athletes, Duman said, “This is our vision. We have been providing support for this with Recep Hodja for years. Wrestling is a sport that requires a lot of effort. I hope we can be useful to more children and young people. Havin was physically weak when he first arrived. He said, ‘I can’t do it, I can’t’, but he never stopped training. He crowned his efforts with the medals he received.
Last year it had 2-3 degrees. This year it reached its maximum level. I am sure he will come to better places.” He concluded his words by saying.
