ASUS announced the new special edition model ROG Xbox Ally X20 for the Xbox Ally X family. While the new model transitions from the IPS panel to the OLED panel on the screen side, it also comes with changes in the design, control keys, fan structure, microSD Express slot and package content. OLED touch from ASUS to the Xbox handheld console: ROG Xbox Ally X20 introducedROG Xbox Ally X20 comes with a 7.4-inch OLED screen instead of the 7-inch IPS screen in the previous Xbox Ally X model.
The screen offers 1080p resolution and supports 120 Hz refresh rate. The panel reaches 600 nits brightness in SDR use. On the HDR side, a peak brightness value of 1400 nits is given. The new screen has VESA DisplayHDR TrueBlack 1000 certification. The device also comes with Dolby Vision support. There is also an improvement on the variable refresh rate side. While the VRR range decreased to 48 Hz in the previous model, this value drops to 30 Hz in the ROG Xbox Ally X20.
The device uses an AMD Z2 Extreme processor. On the memory side, there is 24 GB 8000 MT/s RAM. Storage capacity was announced as 1 TB. On the hardware side, the new model uses the same processor, RAM and storage combination as the previous Xbox Ally X. ASUS has also enlarged the case due to the new display and design changes. ROG Xbox Ally X20 is 9 mm wider, half a millimeter thicker and 41 grams heavier than the previous model.
A transparent body is used in the design of ROG Xbox Ally X20. On the control side, there are GuliKit TMR joysticks. These joysticks offer a more resistant structure against drift problems. There is also a different mechanism on the D-pad side. The D-pad can switch from an 8-way structure to a 4-way structure by lowering its corners when turned. ASUS has also removed the Library key on the device. A new Action key has been added instead of this key.

These buttons have been designed to provide a longer and quieter press feeling.
There is also a change in the fan design on the cooling side. ASUS provides more fresh air passage through the case with its new fan structure. According to the information provided by company spokesman Anthony Spence, this change was made to reduce touch screen temperatures. The Xbox button on the device is illuminated with a green light. On the storage expansion side, there is a microSD Express card slot. This slot supports the new generation card standard, which offers higher transfer speeds than classic microSD card solutions.
