From Gamers to Racers: Nissan’s racing spirit

In 2008, Nissan attracted attention with its bold initiative to turn top Gran Turismo players into professional motorsport racing drivers. This visionary partnership with Gran Turismo challenged the qualifications required to become a driver and opened the doors of real auto racing to world-class talent.

As a pioneering and challenging brand, Nissan’s GT Academy, launched in 2008, is known for making motorsport more accessible than ever before. Through its GT Academy program, which ran from 2008 to 2016, Nissan dared to prove to the racing world that young gamers could turn their virtual skills into real motorsport careers with passion and determination. GT Academy, which has given the opportunity to 22 professional racers to date, is an important indicator of Nissan’s motor sports heritage of more than 85 years.

Today, Nissan continues to electrify the racing careers of young drivers with Formula-E 0 electric motorsport.
