Microsoft introduced the Surface Laptop Ultra, the new high-end laptop of the Surface family. The 15-inch model comes with NVIDIA’s new Arm-based RTX Spark platform. The company positioned the device as the most powerful Surface model it has ever produced. The price for the Surface Laptop Ultra and the technical version details of all hardware options and ports that will be available have not yet been announced. Microsoft Surface Laptop Ultra with NVIDIA RTX Spark has been introduced.
NVIDIA RTX Spark is at the center of the Surface Laptop Ultra. Built on a structure close to the processor family used in NVIDIA’s DGX Spark mini PC, the new platform is optimized for Windows 11. The top configuration of the RTX Spark family has 20 CPU cores, 6,144 CUDA cores and 128 GB combined memory. In lower configurations, memory capacity can go down to 16 GB. According to Microsoft’s statement, Surface Laptop Ultra is the first Surface laptop to combine NVIDIA Blackwell RTX GPU, up to 128 GB combined memory and full CUDA support.
CUDA support enables the device to be used with the NVIDIA ecosystem, especially in artificial intelligence development, 3D rendering, large data sets, local model running and creative production workflows. The device offers artificial intelligence processing power at 1 PFLOP. Microsoft stated that the Surface Laptop Ultra can natively run models with up to 120 billion parameters. This value is based on theoretical performance data shared by NVIDIA based on FP4 processing power and sparsity feature.
A 15-inch mini-LED PixelSense Ultra touch screen is used in Surface Laptop Ultra. The screen has a pixel density of 262 PPI and a peak HDR brightness of 2,000 nits. Microsoft announced that this panel is the brightest screen it has ever offered on a Surface device. The device also includes the largest haptic touchpad used in the Surface family. The new model comes in two color options. In Microsoft’s official announcement, these colors were listed as Platinum and Nightfall.
The Verge’s news also included information that the device will come in dark gray and silver options. The weight of the Surface Laptop Ultra will be under 4.5 pounds, or approximately 2 kilograms. On the connection side, there is USB-C, USB-A, HDMI, full-size SD card slot and headphone jack. Microsoft has not yet shared the speed and version details of these ports. There are multiple USB-C connections in the images, but since the final technical table has not been announced, the exact standard of the ports has not been clarified.
Surface Laptop Ultra was developed with the joint work of Windows, Surface and NVIDIA teams. Microsoft stated that optimizations were made on the Windows side for RTX Spark and that Windows on Arm support was prepared for this platform. It was announced that the device will work with Windows 11. Microsoft used the phrase “all day” for the battery life of Surface Laptop Ultra. The company stated that this information is based on internal testing with pre-production devices and that battery life will vary based on usage pattern, settings and other factors.
The Surface Laptop Ultra will go on sale later this year. Microsoft announced that the device is a pre-release product, features may vary by country and region, and sales and delivery are subject to regulatory approvals.technopat.net/2026/06/01/nvidia-rtx-spark-announced/
