Regarding the Basilica Cistern, one of the symbolic structures of Istanbul, located in Sultanahmet, Istanbul, which was taken from Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and transferred to the General Directorate of Foundations, the 8th Administrative Case Chamber of Istanbul Regional Administrative Court issued a stay decision regarding its acquisition from Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. Istanbul Regional Administrative Court 8th Administrative Case Chamber completed its legal review regarding the ownership transfer decision taken regarding the historical Basilica Cistern.
The court board stayed the execution of the decision that included the transfer of the historical building from the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality to the management of the General Directorate of Foundations. It was determined that no changes could be made in the current management structure of the historical building until the case was concluded on its merits. In line with the ongoing legal process regarding the Basilica Cistern, one of the symbolic structures of Istanbul, the historical structure was taken from the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and transferred to the General Directorate of Foundations under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and the historical structure was evacuated.
