ISTANBUL (AA) – An agreement was reached after the strike initiated by Turkish teachers at Istanbul Private Italian High School, demanding improvements in their working conditions and wages. Teachers gathered in front of the high school in Beyoğlu under the leadership of Tez-Koop-İş Union and shouted some slogans. Tez-Koop-İş Union Istanbul Branch No. 5 President Selahattin Karakurt said in the press release that the demands of the teachers were met at the end of the 123-day struggle.

Stating that the process was successful with the solidarity of education workers, and that with the compromise reached, an agreement was reached that ended discrimination at school and secured financial rights, Karakurt said, “Turkish teachers now have working conditions at international standards and an equitable additional course system in this school. As a result of these difficult negotiations, our working conditions have been made fair and in line with professional standards, and the institutional and professional status that our labor deserves has been secured.” he said.
