ANTALYA (AA) – In the program organized within the scope of June 5 World Environment Day events in Antalya, seabed cleaning was carried out at Kaleiçi Marina. As part of the activities organized to raise awareness of environmental cleanliness in the city, Antalya Governor Hulusi Şahin also participated in the sea bottom cleaning activity and dived. Making a statement to journalists after the diving program, Şahin said that they have been working intensively with all stakeholders within the framework of the “Antalya Blue Mediterranean Initiative” since the beginning of the year.

Stating that they participated in the undersea cleaning work as the first activity of the day, Şahin said, “We accompanied our divers and frogmen as a part of the undersea cleaning that we have already been doing throughout the year and will continue to do. We went underwater at the pier, in Antalya Kaleiçi. We could not see anything, the sea was very blurry. This situation is a clear indication of how much of a burden the Mediterranean is under in Antalya.” he said.

– Garbage was cleaned on the cliffs and cliffs. Stating that environmental cleaning works continued at different points throughout the day, Şahin stated that associations, mountaineering clubs and AFAD teams carried out garbage collection activities around the cliffs and cliffs. Şahin stated that municipalities and non-governmental organizations also carried out various cleaning activities throughout the city. Referring to the programs to be held at Konyaaltı Beach Park, Şahin stated that the stakeholders will exhibit the work they have implemented throughout the year and plan to do in the future, and that World Environment Day will be celebrated in a festival atmosphere.

As part of the event, Governor Şahin and his accompanying divers unfurled the Turkish flag under the sea and took photos.
