ISTANBUL (AA) – Girişim Elektrik Chairman of the Board of Directors, Behiç Harmanlı, stated that while the demand for new suppliers in areas such as transmission equipment and energy storage systems is increasing with the acceleration of energy infrastructure investments in the world, this process offers an important opportunity for the Turkish industry. According to the written statement made by the company, data center projects accelerated by artificial intelligence investments, the spread of electric transportation, the increase in renewable energy capacity and the need for renewal of existing networks bring to the fore transmission, distribution and storage investments as well as production in the energy sector.
Harmanlı, whose views were included in the statement, stated that the transformation in the energy sector concerns not only energy companies but also industrial producers, and stated that the world has entered a new investment cycle. Harmanlı noted that the main problem facing energy investments in many countries is access to equipment and engineering capacity rather than financing, and said, “There is a serious demand in a wide range of areas, from power transformers to switchgear systems, from energy storage solutions to high voltage equipment.
Moreover, these equipment are now equipped with smart systems; We actively use these solutions, which offer remote monitoring and control, in our projects. This takes the demand from being limited to hardware to a dimension shaped by technology. “This situation creates important opportunities for countries with strong production infrastructure.” he said. Stating that energy transformation is not just about electricity production, Harmanlı said, “Today, it has become strategic in the world to produce the transformer to carry that energy, the switchgear system to manage it and the battery infrastructure to store it, as well as establishing a solar power plant.
The invisible side of the energy transformation actually happens here. “There is an important opportunity in front of Turkey at this point.” made his assessment. – “As renewable energy investments grow, the importance of storage technologies also increases.” Harmanlı emphasized that the acceleration of investments in energy infrastructure on a global scale has started a new era in terms of high value-added industrial production, and stated that Turkish companies are now starting to take on more roles not only in regional but also in global projects.
Stating that energy storage systems, in particular, will be one of the most critical investment areas in the coming period, Harmanlı said, “As renewable energy investments grow, the importance of storage technologies also increases. It is no longer enough to just produce energy; it is necessary to use it at the right time and keep the network balanced. For this reason, battery systems, energy management software and storage solutions are among the new growth areas of the energy sector.” he said.
Harmanlı pointed out that a significant part of the investments made within the group in recent years focused on energy infrastructure and storage technologies, and stated that the integrated production structure, ranging from solar panel production to battery systems, from power transformers to high voltage equipment, was shaped by taking into account the needs of the future. Emphasizing that the global energy transformation has created a new supplier map, Harmanlı said, “In the coming period, competition in the energy sector will not only be based on cost.
Production capacity, engineering power, delivery ability and technology development ability will be decisive. We believe that Turkey’s industrial infrastructure in this field will become much more visible. We are preparing for this new era with the investments we make.” made his assessment.
