12 people martyred in terrorist attacks in Tunceli were commemorated

TUNCELI (AA) – A commemoration program was organized for 12 people who were martyred in 3 terrorist attacks in Pertek district of Tunceli.

TUNCELI (AA) – A commemoration program was organized for 12 people who were martyred in 3 terrorist attacks in Pertek district of Tunceli. The program, held in Sağman village, started with a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem. In the program, information was given about the lives of Mahmut Söylemez, Fırat Tuğlu, Muhammet Kuzu, Necati and Mehmet Turan Yıldırım, Rıza Tanyeri, Muammer Özdal, Özdal Kartal, Saadet Tanyeri, Yaşar Duran, Adnan Kartal and Muammer Aslan, who were martyred as a result of the attacks of members of the terrorist organization in 1993, 1994 and 1998.

Governor and Mayor Şefik Aygöl, in his speech at the program, said that peace prevails in every corner of Tunceli. Stating that everyone lives peacefully under the shadow of the red flag, Aygöl said, “The biggest reason for this is the holy blood of our martyrs and the heroic courage of our veterans.” he said. After his speech, Aygöl met with the relatives of the martyrs, chatted and listened to their demands. Carnations were left at the martyrdom during the program where the Holy Quran and prayers were read.

Munzur University Rector Prof. attended the commemoration ceremony. Dr. Kenan Peker, Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Brigadier General Bülent Baykal, Provincial Police Chief Kazım Günay Demiralay, Pertek District Governor Yusuf Ziya Yaktı, Provincial Culture and Tourism Director İsmail Kaya, Provincial Health Director Muhammed Duran, Çemişgezek Mayor İbrahim Enes Somyürek, institution directors, families of martyrs, veterans and citizens attended.
