With the One UI 8.5 update, Samsung is expanding the list of Galaxy devices supported by the Camera Assistant application. The new support list includes mid-segment phones from the Galaxy A and Galaxy M series and tablet models from the Galaxy Tab S8, Tab S9 and Tab S10 families. Samsung is making the Camera Assistant application, which customizes the camera experience on Galaxy devices with more detailed settings, available on more models.

As the company expands One UI 8.5 rollout, app support will extend to 19 additional Galaxy devices. The list also includes the Galaxy A and Galaxy M series phones that have been on sale recently. Camera Assistant works as Samsung’s advanced customization tool that adds additional settings to the stock Camera application on Galaxy devices. Automatic lens switching can be turned on or off through the application, the photo softening level can be adjusted, additional zoom shortcuts can be added, and focus accuracy can be prioritized over shooting speed. The application also offers additional control options on the autofocus side.

Users can change autofocus speed and sensitivity in both photo and video modes. These options open up a more detailed control area, especially for users who want to move the camera behavior of their Galaxy devices beyond the default settings. You can also adjust how many frames will be taken when using the timer in Camera Assistant. Auto HDR option can be turned on or off, video smoothing setting can be changed and HDR10 video recording can be enabled.

Thus, Samsung is bringing some advanced options in the camera application to a wider group of Galaxy devices through a separate application. The support expansion comes with the One UI 8.5 update. According to the information provided by SamMobile, new models will be able to benefit from the Camera Assistant application with the update. Since the distribution schedule will vary depending on model and region, the feature is not expected to reach all devices at the same time.
