Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office prepared an indictment against sports commentator Erman Toroğlu due to the statements he made in a television program. In the indictment, it was stated that the investigation was initiated upon Toroğlu’s statements in the broadcast dated February 8 that there was a meeting between Dursun Özbek and İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu and that some issues were discussed in this meeting. It was requested that Toroğlu be punished with a prison sentence of 1 to 3 years on the charge of “publicly disseminating misleading information to the public”.
WHAT DID ERMAN TOROĞLU SAY? Erman Toroğlu used the following statements in a program he attended: “Do you remember what Dursun Özbek said when he had an argument with the federation president İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu? He said, ‘Don’t reveal what was said between us’. I heard him like this, I don’t know if it is true. Dursun says to the federation president, ‘We have to be champions this year, the situation is very bad. There is pressure from within.
It is said that he said a sentence like ‘Help us and support us’. I hope it is not true.”
