Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek answered the questions of the press members after the cabinet meeting held at the Presidential Complex under the chairmanship of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Gürlek made statements about illegal betting investigations and legal processes carried out against fugitive suspects. Minister Gürlek also spoke about journalist Rasim Ozan Kütahyalı, who was arrested within the scope of the illegal betting investigation, and stated that there was a financial tracking process in the background of the operation.
PROCEEDING DEPENDING ON MASAK REPORTS Gürlek used the following statements in his statement on the subject: “There is a major operation carried out by our Adana Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office. The process is progressing completely depending on MASAK reports. Kütahyalı was also caught in MASAK investigations during money movements. There are allegations such as sending money to illegal betting sites and acting as an intermediary.
“Our Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office made this decision within the scope of its discretion by following the economic movements.” Gürlek emphasized that according to current laws, people who place illegal bets, mediate them, provide space and opportunities for them, or transfer money to these sites are committing crimes, and stated that judicial processes are continuing against the suspects who are involved in illegal betting operations and are abroad.
RED BULLETIN WAS ISSUED AGAINST MANY NAMES. Minister Gürlek also stated that sanctions regarding digital channels are being implemented decisively and that a decision was taken to quickly block access to sites that concern public order. In this context, it was announced that a red notice was issued for some suspects who were determined to be abroad, especially Batuhan Karadeniz.
