In this context, Chinese automobile giant Chery Group increased its sales in May by 63 percent compared to the previous year, reaching 139 thousand 172 units. With this high performance, Chery achieved another difficult to achieve success by selling more than 100 thousand vehicles for 12 consecutive months. Chery Group sold a total of 596 thousand 220 vehicles in the January-May period, with an annual increase of 61 percent.

While the dynamism of the Chinese automobile market increased, the general automobile market stabilized in May. The China Passenger Association had estimated that passenger vehicle retail sales in May would increase by 27.7 percent annually to 1.73 million units. Chery Group’s sales in May increased by 63 percent compared to the previous year, continuing to outperform the general trend and maintaining an accelerated course, with a growth rate exceeding twice that of the industry. According to the statistical analysis of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers for the January-April period, Chery Group’s growth rate ranked second in the industry among the top 10 automobile sales business groups. Despite the general contraction in the automobile market, the Chery Group’s business style, which focuses on constant technological innovation, has enabled these impressive results to be achieved. Chery Group, which has been rapidly promoting new products and new technologies since the beginning of the year, launched the global introduction of TIGGO 9, the first mass production model of the Chery Mars architecture super hybrid platform, last May. The “ultra-comfortable flagship SUV with magnetic suspension” produced by Chery not only added another member to the TIGGO family, but also set a new standard for superior comfort experience in the SUV market. The company started mass production of the all-new Kunpeng super-performance electric hybrid C-DM engine and transmission in June, and the first products have started to roll off the line. This also means that Chery has fully ushered in the era of hybridization. Chery plans to launch more than 20 C-DM models by 2024. And this doesn’t include the new all-electric models launched in April by independent new energy electric brand iCAR.
