Sacrifice Prices Increased: Increased Approximately 2.5 Times!

While millions of citizens continue to spend on sacrificial animals, one day before Eid-al-Adha, the increase in sacrificial animal prices continues. While the rise in prices and the decline in purchasing power attracted attention, the fees for sacrificing sacrifices by proxy, shared with the public by the Turkish Religious Foundation, also revealed the difference between domestic and international. Accordingly, it is stated that domestic sacrifice donation amounts have increased approximately two and a half times compared to abroad, while the domestic attorney fee reached 18 thousand liras this year.

For this reason, the fact that domestic costs were approximately two and a half times higher than abroad caused a reaction from citizens. It was stated that the increase in feed, energy, transportation and maintenance expenses increased the costs of livestock farming, and therefore the prices of sacrificial animals were directly affected.

According to Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data, while beef and lamb prices also increased, it was seen that this increase went in parallel with sacrificial fees. Accordingly, the price of sheep sacrifice, which was approximately 1090 lira in 2017, increased to 27 thousand 950 lira this year, while the price of cattle share reached 34 thousand 950 lira.

While millions of minimum wage citizens had difficulty in sacrificing animals due to this increase, the prices of sacrificial animals approaching the minimum wage level caused a reaction from the citizens.
