The first step of the project was taken by signing the Memorandum of Understanding for Gökbey Helicopter and Orkun 2053 Dipping Sonar Integration between Armelsan and TAI. SAHA 2026 International Defense, Aerospace Industry Fair is being held at Istanbul Expo Center with the organization of SAHA Istanbul, the largest defense, aviation and space industry cluster of Türkiye and Europe. At the fair, where Anadolu Agency (AA) is the Global Communication Partner, the Memorandum of Understanding for Gökbey Helicopter and Orkun 2053 Dipping Sonar Integration was signed between Armelsan Chairman Yetkin Karakaş, Armelsan Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Can Emre Bakim, TAI Chairman Ömer Cihad Vardan and TAI General Manager Mehmet Demiroğlu.
According to the statement made by the company, unlike traditional ship sonars, Orkun 2053 eliminates the silence and invisibility of the deep thanks to its ability to operate even at a depth of 500 meters, high output power and innovative signal processing algorithms.
