BURSA (AA) – Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTSO), which was established on June 6, 1889, with the aim of strengthening Bursa’s commercial and industrial life and supporting its development goals, is celebrating its 137th anniversary. BTSO, whose foundations were laid in Kozahan and started its operations on June 6, 1889 under the leadership of Osman Fevzi Efendi and his friends, is among the largest chambers of commerce and industry in the country with more than 60 thousand members.

Within the scope of the program organized with the participation of Chairman of the Board of Directors İbrahim Burkay, Chairman of the Assembly Ali Uğur and board members on the occasion of the 137th anniversary of BTSO, a wreath was laid at the Atatürk Monument in the Heykel district, and then a prayer was made at the grave of BTSO’s founder Osman Fevzi Efendi in Emir Sultan Cemetery. In his speech, Burkay stated that throughout its 137-year history, BTSO has played important roles in the economic development of Bursa, strengthening its industrial identity, expanding the export horizon and deepening the entrepreneurship culture.

Burkay stated that the presidents, council, committee members and the business world who served in the past had great efforts in making Bursa one of the locomotive cities of the Turkish economy and said: We are also working to carry forward this service flag that we have inherited. As BTSO, we aim to increase Bursa’s production power, export capacity, technology infrastructure and competitiveness with the strength we derive from our 137-year corporate memory and more than 60 thousand members.

The 2030 vision we put forward is the expression of our will to move Bursa to a much stronger position in high-technology-based production, value-added exports, green and digital transformation, qualified employment and global competition. While we produce strong solutions to the changing expectations of our members with the projects we implement, we prepare our city for the economy of the future. Our greatest wish is that the steps we take today will be remembered as services that add value to Bursa tomorrow.

Burkay thanked all the presidents, council presidents, board members, council members, committee representatives and colleagues who contributed to BTSO’s 137-year journey.
