ÇAYKUR Exceeded the Capacity Limit: Fresh Tea Purchases Stopped

ÇAYKUR suspended purchases for one day on June 4, 2026, due to overcapacity in fresh tea purchases.

General Directorate of Tea Enterprises (ÇAYKUR) announced that purchases were suspended for one day on June 4, 2026, due to the intensity of fresh tea purchases. In the statement made by the institution, it was stated that the 2026 age tea harvest season started as of May 20 and purchases continued intensively. It was stated that the fresh tea stock reached approximately 18 thousand tons as a result of exceeding the daily processing capacity of 9 thousand 250 tons.

ÇAYKUR decided to temporarily suspend purchases in order to process existing stocks and turn them into dried tea and to preserve product quality. In the statement, it was shared that fresh tea purchases will continue again after a one-day break. The institution also pointed out that with the widespread use of tea picking machines, the harvesting process took place in a shorter time compared to previous years. ÇAYKUR stated that all means will be used to evaluate the products coming from the producers throughout the season.
