Minister of Health Kemal Memişoğlu and Presidency Defense Industry President Haluk Görgün attended the “GöKBEY Air Ambulance Take-Off Launch, Production and Flight Test Activity On-Site Examination Program” at TUSAŞ. Defense Industry President Haluk Görgün said that they will deliver 3 GÖKBEY helicopters, designed to provide air ambulance service, within 6-8 months to meet the needs of the Ministry of Health. “GÖKBEY Air Ambulance Take-Off Launch, Production and Flight Test Activity On-Site Inspection Program” was held at TAI’s campus in Kahramankazan, with the participation of Minister of Health Kemal Memişoğlu.
In his speech here, Görgün stated that the GÖKBEY helicopter was developed with local and national capabilities. Emphasizing that the design and production process of the helicopter in question is entirely based on domestic engineering infrastructure, Görgün stated that the platform was developed in accordance with Turkey’s geographical and climatic conditions. Görgün explained that GÖKBEY is a valuable platform that grows every day and said, “We design, produce and deliver many platforms, both air, sea and land, domestically and nationally, and deliver them to the end user.” he said.
Developed for security forces and healthcare services, Haluk Görgün stated that the GÖKBEY helicopter was designed for general purpose missions and has features that will meet the needs of security forces, and that the Ministry of Health has demonstrated a strong will to meet the need for ambulance helicopters through a domestic platform. Görgün said, “While mass production orders were placed in line with the needs of our security forces, our Ministry of Health demonstrated determination and will to meet especially ambulance helicopter needs through the local national platform.” he said.
Technical features of GÖKBEY Giving information about the technical features of the helicopter, Görgün stated that GÖKBEY is a general purpose helicopter in the 6-ton class. Görgün explained that the helicopter, 80 of which will be produced in total, has a fuel capacity of approximately 1 ton, can stay in the air for 3.8 hours and can reach a range of 700 kilometers. Referring to the schedule of the first delivery, Görgün said, “We will deliver 3 of these helicopters, hopefully, within the next 6-8 months, to meet the needs of our Ministry of Health.” he said.
Görgün stated that an important stage of the certification process of the GÖKBEY helicopter has been completed and that additional tests will be carried out, especially for ambulance duties. Pointing out that the infrastructure of the defense industry is also used to meet the needs of different areas such as health, Görgün drew attention to the importance of cooperation between institutions in this sense. After the speech, GÖKBEY ambulance helicopter performed a test flight.
