International Exercise Anatolian Phoenix-2026, hosted by Turkey, started at the 3rd Main Jet Base Command in Konya. The exercise, which will last until April 17, was planned to focus on the Personnel Rescue Operation. The exercise, whose main purpose is to test and improve command and control processes and train Personnel Rescue Task Force elements in a war environment, is attended by the Turkish Armed Forces’ Land, Naval and Air Force Commands, as well as the General Staff Special Forces Command and the Gendarmerie General Command.
International Participation The exercise has a multinational character. In addition to Turkey, the USA, Azerbaijan, Poland and Slovakia are actively participating in the Anatolian Phoenix-2026 Exercise. Observer Countries are Germany, Belarus, Georgia, Croatia, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, North Macedonia, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Oman and Jordan. This participation increases the importance of the exercise in terms of international cooperation and developing joint operation capabilities.
Purpose and scope of the exercise: The Anatolian Phoenix series aims to test command-control mechanisms, especially in personnel rescue operations, strengthen coordination between different forces and train in realistic scenarios. Possible scenarios during the exercise will include personnel rescue behind enemy lines, integrated operation of air-land-sea elements and emergency evacuation operations. The exercise, which is an important platform for Turkey to share its capabilities in this field with friendly and allied countries, will use the modern infrastructure of the 3rd Main Jet Base Command in Konya.
