IZMIR (AA) – Military aircraft and domestic defense industry platforms passed through within the scope of the Youth and Aviation Festival organized in Izmir by the Ministry of National Defense on the occasion of the 115th anniversary of the establishment of the Turkish Air Force. In the two-day festival, which will last at the 2nd Main Jet Base Command in Çiğli district, warplanes F-4E 2020 and F-16s, as well as KT-1T, T-38M and SF-260D training aircraft, passed in front of the runway.
Airbus A400M Atlas, known as Koca Yusuf, as well as CN-235 type transport aircraft, AS532 Cougar and T70 helicopters took part in the transition. HÜRJET and HÜRKUŞ training aircraft, developed by Turkish defense industry companies, and GÖKBEY helicopter were among the passing platforms. Unmanned aerial vehicles AKSUNGUR, Bayraktar AKINCI, Bayraktar TB2 and Bayraktar TB3 were also exhibited at the event. The transition, which was followed with interest by the students and their families attending the festival from Izmir and surrounding provinces, was also watched by Air Force Commander General Ziya Cemal Kadıoğlu.
While visitors took pictures with their mobile phones, students received information about the platforms from the staff on duty. After the aircraft passed, SOLOTÜRK performed a demonstration flight, and the demonstration with the F-16 fighter plane received applause from the audience.
