Turkey’s “laser weapon system” comes with new capabilities

Armored combat vehicles developed within the Turkish defense industry will be showcased at SAHA 2026 with their latest equipment and capabilities.

Armored combat vehicles developed within the Turkish defense industry will be showcased at SAHA 2026 with their latest equipment and capabilities. SAHA 2026 International Defense, Aerospace Industry Fair, organized by SAHA Istanbul, Turkey’s and Europe’s largest defense, aviation and space industry cluster, will be held at Istanbul Expo Center on 5-9 May. In the ninth news of Anadolu Agency’s (AA) file titled “The heart of technology will beat in SAHA”, the reflections of the works in the field of armored combat vehicles on the fair were included.

FNSS, one of the global brands of the Turkish defense industry in terms of military land vehicles, will exhibit the vehicles it has recently added to the inventory of the security forces and their new capabilities at the fair. ALKA-KAPLAN HYBRID Directed Energy Weapon System (YESS) Platform, which emerged in cooperation with ROKETSAN and FNSS and was first launched at the IDEF 2025 fair last year, will come to SAHA 2026 with the additional capabilities gained over the past period.

The platform, which is the combination of ROKETSAN’s ALKA Directed Energy Weapon System and FNSS’s KAPLAN Hybrid Carrier Platform, has ALKA, which has the ability to detect and destroy fixed and rotary wing mini/micro unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and ammunition. The diesel generator unit, which provides the electrical energy required for the electric driving system, was designed by FNSS and integrated into the vehicle.

The diesel generator unit produces the required electricity by operating in the speed-torque regions where it is most efficient. While the mobility requirements of the vehicle are met with the unit that produces power at high kilowatts, it also makes it possible to provide the electrical power at the high voltage levels required by new generation weapons such as ALKA, without carrying an additional energy unit. ALKA YESS stands out as one of the most cost-effective defense systems against asymmetric threats.

ROKETSAN’s efforts to develop the platform and new and progressive sub-technologies for the platform continue. The new generation armored vehicle PARS ALPHA FNSS stand will feature the PARS ALPHA 8×8 New Generation Wheeled Armored Combat Vehicle with TEBER-II 30/40 Remote Controlled Turret (UKK) integrated. PARS ALPHA 8×8 pioneers innovative solutions in the field of new generation armored combat vehicles, bringing together technologies that include superior mobility and survivability, durability, situational awareness and life support systems on a single platform.

FNSS design TEBER-II 30/40 Remote Control Tower was integrated into the vehicle. The turret was equipped with a 30 mm dual-feed automatic cannon. The existing 30 mm gun barrel can be replaced with a 40 mm barrel by keeping the basic parts of the gun and the stock as is. This choice of adaptable weapon system allows users to easily increase firepower when and where it is needed. Additionally, a 7.62 mm coaxial machine gun is located next to the main gun.

The fastest amphibious vehicle ZAHA, the Armored Amphibious Assault Vehicle ZAHA, which is in the inventory of the Naval Forces, will also be introduced at the fair. ZAHA has the ability to cover the distance between the ship and the shore as quickly as possible during an amphibious landing operation. During the landing phase of the operation, it can go down to the sea from the landing ships and cover the distance at high speed, allowing the troops to land under protection and with fire support in a short time.

ZAHA, which has the fastest amphibious vehicle feature of the Turkish Armed Forces, balances land and sea requirements and includes all the features and capabilities that both a military land vehicle and a military sea vehicle should have, as per its mission definition. The İZCİ 6×6 Command and Control Vehicle, which has been delivered to the Turkish Armed Forces within the scope of the İZCİ Special Purpose Tactical Wheeled Armored Vehicles Project, which is a force multiplier in reconnaissance missions, will also be exhibited at the fair.

Creating a significant force multiplier, the vehicles enable the reconnaissance mission to be carried out quickly, with high quality and instantly, thanks to the command and control system at its center. PARS SCOUT vehicles were specially designed for reconnaissance and internal security operations. Offering tactical advantages to its users with its high situational awareness feature, the vehicles have high mobility in all kinds of terrain conditions.

The vehicles operate with superior ballistic and mine protection capabilities. With its protection level, PARS SCOUT not only reaches the protection level of mine-protected vehicles produced for personnel transportation, but also has the capabilities expected in a modern armored combat vehicle.
