The United States has entered the procurement phase of the XM30 new generation infantry fighting vehicle program. As part of the fiscal year 2027 budget request, approximately $547 million was allocated for the purchase of 19 XM30 vehicles. This step symbolizes the transition of the program from the research and development (R&D) phase to the official procurement phase. XM30, which is planned to replace the USA’s long-serving M2 Bradley armored vehicles; It was designed to offer increased survivability, advanced sensor systems and high firepower for high-intensity conflict environments.
The vehicle is expected to be equipped with the XM913 Bushmaster 50 mm automatic cannon as its main weapon. Other planned features include anti-tank guided missiles, a remote-controlled or unmanned turret, advanced thermal imaging systems, active protection systems and modular armor. In the project, in which General Dynamics Land Systems and American Rheinmetall Vehicles companies compete in the development process, the full-scale production decision (Milestone C) is planned to be made in the first quarter of 2028.
