When Will TurkStat Announce May 2026 Inflation Data?

Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) will share the May 2026 inflation data, which is closely followed by millions of citizens, with the public on Friday, June 5, at 10:00. The data to be announced will be among the determining indicators in terms of civil servant and pension salary regulations and rent increase rates. The Market Participants Survey published by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) revealed the current picture of inflation expectations before the data.

Inflation Expectation Increased to 1.89 Percent According to the CBRT survey, the consumer price index (CPI) increase expectation for May increased to 1.89 percent from 1.82 percent in the previous period. It was stated that 72 participants took part in the survey. Inflation expectations for the end of the year were also revised upwards, rising from 27.53 percent to 28.94 percent. Medium and long-term expectations regarding inflation were also included in the survey: CPI expectation after 12 months: 23.82 percent CPI expectation after 24 months: 18.43 percent. On the growth side, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) increase expectation for the current year decreased from 3.5 percent to 3.3 percent. The growth expectation next year was maintained at 4.1 percent. Interest Rate Expectations in the Survey: There was also variability in the participants’ forecasts regarding the policy rate in different maturities.

For the first meeting, 37 percent, for the second meeting, 37 percent, and for the third meeting, 35.99 percent stood out. The policy rate expectation for 12 months ahead was recorded as 30.22 percent. Monthly and annual CPI changes will become clear with the May inflation data to be announced by TURKSTAT. These data are used as a reference, especially in revenue regulations and pricing processes.
