SAMSUN (AA) – In Alaçam district, one of the important agricultural centers of Samsun, the new season planting process continues by using modern technologies in paddy production, which is carried out on an area of approximately 30 thousand decares. In the paddy planting program held in Doyran District of Alaçam district, district administrators and producers in the region came together. In the district, which ranks second in paddy production in Samsun with an area of approximately 30 thousand decares, paddy cultivation is carried out with agricultural drones, and 25 thousand tons of paddy harvest is aimed this year.
Alaçam District Governor Fatih Kayabaşı told the AA correspondent that paddy rice has an important place as agricultural input in Samsun. Noting that farmers aim to get high efficiency by using technology, Kayabaşı said, “Especially, we have a yield of approximately 850-900 kilograms per decare. This is well above the world average in terms of yield. In this sense, we wholeheartedly thank our farmers who use technology and improve themselves.” he said.
Stating that 90 percent of paddy cultivation in the district has been completed, Kayabaşı said, “I hope our farmers will have a fruitful and auspicious season. I hope they will have a season where productivity is high and my farmers will be happy, just like last year.” he said. Alaçam Mayor Ramazan Özdemir noted that the input of paddy production into the district is approximately 750 million. Stating that rice is one of the important sources of income in the district, Özdemir said, “As Alaçam Municipality, we turned it into a brand and registered it as ALBEL Alaçam rice.
Hopefully, in the coming years, we will be able to deliver this rice, which we plant, grow and harvest in our own lands, to all of Turkey and the whole world.” he said. Alaçam Chamber of Agriculture President Hüseyin Sönmez stated that under normal conditions, paddy planting ends on May 30, but this process was prolonged due to rains. 16There are 54 geographically registered foods among the products offered for sale at the Gastronomy House, where the traditional flavors of Hatay are introduced.
