Approximately 700 farmers in 20 neighborhoods in Alaçam district obtain around 600 tons of product from an area of 4 thousand decares. Tobacco, which was sold for 305 liras per kilogram last year and is expected to be purchased for 400 liras this year, is expected to bring 240 million liras of income to the district economy.

Alaçam Mayor Ramazan Özdemir and District Director of Agriculture and Forestry Şenol Özcan visited the producers planting in Bahşioymağı and Karahüseyinli neighborhoods. Özdemir and Özcan ate halva and bread in the field with the producers. Pointing out that tobacco production has an important place for the Alaçam economy, Özdemir said, “Tobacco production is a very laborious process.
