Stoves are burning in Kars in summer

KARS (AA) – In Sarıkamış, one of the highest settlements in Turkey, stoves continue to be lit due to the cold weather despite the month of June. While hot weather affects many parts of the country, the air temperature drops to 1 degree at night in Sarıkamış district, which has an altitude of 2,150 meters. In the district, where intermittent showers, hail and cold weather have been affecting life negatively for about a week, stoves continue to be used in some coffeehouses, houses and living areas.

Citizens sitting in front of the stove enjoy tea here. Selçuk Çakıcı, who came from Izmit for holiday, told the AA reporter that the weather was not warm even though it was June. Stating that the cold weather is effective due to excessive rainfall, Çakıcı said, “Although I have lived in Sarıkamış for many years, I have never seen such a cold day in June. It is extremely cold today with the rain, the pleasure of the stove is wonderful.” he said.
