VAN (AA) – Visitors to the Pearl Mullet Nature Park in Van’s Erciş district watch the difficult journey of the pearl mullets that live in Lake Van and migrate to fresh waters during the breeding period, and the fishing of the seagulls. The journey of pearl mullets, which migrate to the streams flowing into Lake Van between 15 April and 15 July, the breeding season, continues. Visitors and photography enthusiasts who come to Erciş Pearl Mullet Nature Park, where fish migration is frequently observed, watch the migration of fish and the moments when seagulls hunt pearl mullets.
Turan Mercan, one of the visitors, told the AA correspondent that he came to watch the migration struggle of the fish with his wife and children. Emphasizing the density of seagulls, Mercan said, “The view we see is truly amazing. Many people from many provinces of Turkey, nearby districts and our region are here. The pearl mullet, which lives only in Lake Van in the world, contributes significantly to the tourism of our region.
This makes us very happy as local people.” he said. Meral Kızıldere, who came from Bursa, said: “It is a wonderful place. I saw the pearl mullet migration for the first time. The fish jump very well and the seagulls hunt them. I liked it very much. It is a wonderful place of nature.” “I want everyone to come and see it.” he said. Vefa Kaya, who came from Ağrı, said: “We saw the videos of the fish weir on the internet and were curious.
