GNAT (AA) – CHP Group Chairman Özgür Özel had a meeting with a group of CHP MPs and politicians in the Parliament. Making a statement after the meeting, CHP Istanbul Deputy Zeynel Emre stated that they evaluated the agenda at the meeting chaired by Özel. Reminding that by-elections will be held in 6 towns and 362 neighborhoods on Sunday, Emre said that Özel will make some visits as part of the election campaign on Friday and Saturday.
Emre said, “First of all, it will land in Trabzon. From Trabzon, a study will be carried out for Gümüşhane Tekke town. After that, a study will be carried out in Tokat, Amasya and finally in Nevşehir’s Ürgüp district.” he said. Explaining that they continued to collect signatures from the delegates to take the party to the extraordinary congress, Emre said, “On the first day, we reached over 600 congress delegates. At the end of the second day, this number increased to over 850.
Our goal is to collect signatures for the extraordinary congress with a number exceeding 1000. Especially if this period is missed twice in a row and this period has passed for a certain period of 6 years, that political party is prevented from participating in the elections and its assets are recorded as income to the treasury. The Constitutional Court has made decisions on this issue in the past.
Since, after the annulment decision given by the court, the date was returned to 4-5 November 2023 and our last valid congress was shown as July 2020, it is a matter of existence or non-existence for CHP to hold a congress until July 25.
