ASELSAN and Türk Telekom Will Produce Local Phones!

Having signed a new agreement on Turkey’s digital independence, ASELSAN announced that it will join forces with Turkcell and Türk Telekom to produce domestic smartphones. Within the scope of the project, in addition to phones, various user devices and national communication equipment will also be developed. While determining the road map on the subject, it is aimed to increase the rate of localization in digital independence by transferring the advanced technology accumulation that Turkey has acquired in the defense industry to the civilian telecommunication field.

Within the scope of ASELSAN and Türk Telekom cooperation; The aim is to develop and produce entirely domestic smartphones, design and implement hardware and software, transfer experience in defense technologies to individual devices, strengthen digital security with national solutions in critical communication infrastructures, and gain competitiveness in the international market by increasing technology exports. COMPETITION IN THE INTERNATIONAL MARKET IS TARGET It has been learned that Türk Telekom will transfer more than 70 international patents and innovation experience it has through its subsidiaries such as Argela and Netsia to the project.

It is known that the company has previously achieved international success with advanced solutions such as Open RAN, RIC and SEBA. With the cooperation of ASELSAN and Türk Telekom, it is now planned to pioneer the domestic production move in the field of smartphones and user devices. While the project aims to strengthen communication systems, it is aimed to develop safer and higher value-added products by transferring the advanced security standards in the defense industry to the civilian sector.

In addition, it is expected that the competitiveness in the international market will be increased and the domestic smartphones to be developed will make significant contributions to Turkey’s technology production.
