Samsung has expanded support for the One UI 8.5 update. With the new announcement, the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy Tab S9 series and many Galaxy A models were added to the update list. The update was first rolled out in Korea; Global distribution is progressing gradually by region. New Galaxy models that will receive One UI 8.5 have been announced. Samsung confirmed that the One UI 8.5 update will come to more Galaxy phones and tablets.
Previously, the update included the Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy S25 FE, Galaxy S25 Edge, Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy S24 FE, Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip 6, Galaxy Tab S11 series and Galaxy Tab S10 series. With the new statement, previous generation flagships, foldable models, tablets and different members of the Galaxy A series were also added to the list. Newly confirmed devices include Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 Ultra.
In Samsung’s announcement in Germany, the Galaxy S23 FE is among the models that will receive One UI 8.5. Thus, the Galaxy S23 family was fully included in the scope of support for One UI 8.5. On the foldable models side, Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 were also included in the update list. These models are among the devices that will be included in the One UI 8.5 distribution, following the newer Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6.
On the tablet side, the update has also been confirmed for the Galaxy Tab S9 series. Galaxy Tab S9, Galaxy Tab S9 and Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra have been added to the list of tablets that will receive One UI 8.5. This series is among the important tablet models included in the update after the Galaxy Tab S11 and Galaxy Tab S10 families. On the Galaxy A series side, the list is wider. According to Samsung’s announcement in Germany, Galaxy A15, Galaxy A16, Galaxy A17, Galaxy A25, Galaxy A26, Galaxy A34, Galaxy A35, Galaxy A36, Galaxy A54, Galaxy A55 and Galaxy A56 models will receive the One UI 8.5 update.
Artificial intelligence features called Awesome Intelligence for these devices will also be available with the update. However, the availability of these features may vary by region, country, device model, operating system version and carrier. One UI 8.5 brings Samsung’s latest Galaxy AI features to more Galaxy devices. The update comes with innovations focusing especially on communication and creative usage areas. Samsung also states that logging in with a Samsung account may be required for certain artificial intelligence features.
Distribution of the update started in Korea on May 6. Global expansion is expected to begin in regions such as Europe, Hong Kong, India, Latin America, North America, Southeast Asia and Taiwan as of May 11. Since the distribution is gradual, the update is not expected to reach all users at the same time. Samsung did not share an individual schedule for the newly added models. Therefore, the day on which the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy Tab S9 series and Galaxy A models will receive the update will vary depending on the device and region.
Users will be able to manually check for updates by entering the Software update section from the Settings menu and selecting the Download and install option.
