Google officially announced the new laptop ecosystem “Googlebook”, which combines ChromeOS and Android platforms on a common infrastructure. The company’s new platform is built on a unified operating system based on Android. According to the information shared by Google, the system is positioned as the commercial version of the “Aluminum OS” project, which has been on the technology agenda for a long time. The new platform is planned to replace ChromeOS in the future.
Googlebook Models Will Come from Different Manufacturers The first Googlebook devices will not be produced directly by Google. It was announced that Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP and Lenovo will develop devices for the new platform. It was noteworthy that Samsung was not among the first business partners. Google stated that the new generation laptops will be offered with premium material structure and will come with designs suitable for different usage scenarios.
The illuminated strip design called “Glowbar” to be used on device covers was also among the confirmed details. Gemini Supported Artificial Intelligence Features Stand Out The Gemini artificial intelligence system is at the center of the Googlebook platform. One of the introduced features, “Magic Pointer”, turns the cursor into a context-sensitive artificial intelligence tool. System; It provides functions such as offering suggestions on images, creating meetings by detecting date information in e-mails, and taking quick action based on user actions.
Google also announced a new feature called “Create My Widget”. Thanks to this system, users will be able to create custom widgets with natural language commands. Wider Integration with Android Phones The new platform will offer more comprehensive integration with Android phones. Thanks to the “Cast My Apps” feature, applications on phones with Android 17 operating system can be opened directly on Googlebook devices. In addition, with the “Quick Access” feature, users will be able to access the files on their phones via the laptop, transfer files and search for content.
Chromebook Support Will Continue Google announced that 10-year software support will continue for existing Chromebook models. However, the company did not share clear information about whether new Chromebook models will be released in the future. A more detailed introduction of the Googlebook platform is expected to be made in the autumn and the first devices will go on sale in the same period.
