Dacia has announced that, starting from 2025, it will compete as a manufacturer in the World Rally-Raid Championship and then take part in the Dakar, a true test of endurance, to reach the top of motorsport.

Dakar, which is a breathtaking adventure in every aspect, has been bringing together 500 adventurers from more than 60 countries for a unique race every year for more than 40 years.

Dakar stands out as a perfect example of the balance between “rational” and “emotional” that forms the basis of Dacia’s DNA.

The rally completely matches Dacia’s adventurous brand identity. Dacia is embarking on a new outdoor adventure with its four-wheel drive, environmentally friendly racing car prototype that runs on synthetic fuel and has been developed to cope with the most challenging conditions.

The Dakar Rally will also be a testing ground and a laboratory of ideas for Dacia. It will also create an opportunity to test and trial new smart solutions in the Dacia style in terms of outdoor functionalities and also energy options.

Before the 2025 season, Dacia prototypes will be tested at the Morocco Rally as early as 2024.

DACIA TRUSTS ON ITS SOLID AND EXPERIENCED TECHNICAL FOUNDATION

Dacia will benefit from British motorsport and engineering group Prodrive, alongside the skills of Groupe Renault, in this exciting project. Prodrive is a team known all over the world for its experience in developing prototypes for rallying.

Prodrive has been a key player in motorsport worldwide for nearly 40 years and has helped brands achieve victory in numerous international championships.

Prodrive has been taking part in the Dakar Rally and Rally-Raid since 2020. It took part in the last three Dakar rallies with vehicles designed and managed by its own teams. He also finished second in the general classification in 2022 and 2023 with Sébastien Loeb, who is now in the new Dacia team.

SÉBASTIEN LOEB AND CRISTINA GUTIERREZ HERRERO WILL BE DACIA PILOTS

Spanish rally driver Cristina Gutierrez Herrero became the first Spanish female pilot to finish the Dakar Rally in the automobile category in 2017. He is only 31 years old and participated in 7 Dakar Rallies between 2017 and 2023. Cristina has also been the all-terrain rally champion in the women’s category in Spain since 2012.

49-year-old French rally driver Sébastien Loeb won the World Rally Championship 9 times in a row from 2004 to 2012. He is considered one of motorsport’s most successful drivers and the greatest rally driver of all time.

Loeb has been participating in the Dakar since 2016. From 2021, he participated in the Dakar Rally behind the wheel of the Bahrain Raid Xtreme Hunter, designed and driven by the British Prodrive team.

The success story between Sébastien Loeb and Prodrive will now continue with Dacia.
