ASPİLSAN Energy, one of Turkey’s national organizations established with domestic capital, strengthens the power of the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) with the long-lasting batteries it produces. Contributing to the country’s defense industry in terms of energy, the company started its journey with the production of rechargeable nickel cadmium batteries and now produces batteries for all kinds of civilian and military handheld, backpack radios, combat equipment, and aircraft and helicopters.
The battery systems of KAAN, HÜRJET and HÜRKUŞ aircraft, GÖKBEY and ATAK-2 helicopters, ANKA and AKSUNGUR UAVs and many projects carried out by TAI are manufactured by ASPILSAN Energy. ASPİLSAN, which reduces Turkey’s foreign dependency in energy storage technologies, has been directing Turkey’s strategic energy systems for 45 years. ASPİLSAN Energy General Manager Ahmet Turan Özdemir told the AA reporter that the company was established in 1981 with the donations of philanthropists from Kayseri and donated to the heroic Turkish army.
Reminding that communication was interrupted due to the embargo imposed by the USA on batteries during the Cyprus Peace Operation, Özdemir explained that ASPİLSAN, with the support of philanthropists, took a civilian initiative and established the factory at that time to produce batteries and batteries needed by the army. Touching on the difficulties experienced during the establishment of the factory, which was established with unity and solidarity, Özdemir said, “We considered their trust to us sacred and took it as our mission to take it to better places from where we received it.
