L3Harris Technologies announced that it has been selected to supply the NOVA night vision system under the BiNOD (Binocular Night Observation Device) program operated by the US Army. It was stated that the total value of the program to be carried out within the scope of the seven-year contract could reach up to 465 million dollars. L3Harris is one of several companies selected to support the program. The NOVA system stands out as a dual-eye night vision device integrated into the helmet designed to provide situational awareness in low visibility conditions.
The system includes image intensifier technology. According to the company’s statement, the system has been developed to meet operational requirements for more than 20 years. Senator Jeanne Shaheen, a member of the US Senate Armed Services Committee, stated that the investment supports national security and provides economic benefits, including industry in New Hampshire. Brenna Baker from L3Harris said that the company is working with the US Army to develop a new generation system that aims to balance competence and cost, and that they are preparing to move into the production phase.
This new contract further solidifies L3Harris’ role in existing programs such as Enhanced Night Vision Goggles – Binocular (ENVG-B). The company announced that it has delivered more than 20,000 ENVG-B units to the army to date.
