ŞIRNAK (AA) – An end-of-year exhibition was held by Şırnak Provincial Directorate of National Education on the occasion of “Lifelong Learning Week”. The opening of the year-end exhibition held in Cumhuriyet Square within the scope of the Lifelong Learning Week event was attended by Governor Birol Ekici, Deputy Mayor Mahmut Tatar, Şırnak University Rector Prof. Dr. It was made by Abdurrahim Applause, Provincial Director of National Education Hakan Cırıt, and Provincial Police Chief Volkan Sazak.
Ekici visited the exhibition containing the products prepared in courses affiliated with the Public Education Center Directorate and received information about the works from master instructors. In his speech at the program, Ekici said that hundreds of people learned new skills in the courses opened throughout the year in public education centers across the province and applied what they learned in their daily lives.
Stating that they prepared 3 thousand people for the future in lifelong learning courses, Ekici said: “We have equipped them with new knowledge, skills and powers. This is extremely important. We have 177 thousand students. We are a young population. These trainings are very important for us. Education has to be the first priority of Şırnak. We are renewing our 17 schools. As the Special Provincial Administration, we will carry out the maintenance and repair of all our schools during the summer holidays.
Our soldiers with education background opened LGS and YKS courses for our children so that they can become more doctors, engineers and teachers and be more successful in life. I would like to thank our Minister of National Defense and National Education for this. Hopefully, our children will be more successful in LGS and YKS in the coming period than in previous years. Our greatest pride is our children. “We have to better prepare our children and citizens for the future.” Cırıt stated that as of the 2025-2026 academic year, 1383 courses were opened and approximately 23 thousand 983 citizens benefited from these courses.
Cırıt said, “These figures are of course important. What is more valuable to us are the traces these works leave in people’s lives. Every citizen of ours who starts a new business, contributes to the family budget, develops his talents or educates himself in a field he has wanted to do for years is the real result of these efforts. Seeing this desire to learn in every district of Şırnak gives us strength. “Our people’s efforts, desire to produce and efforts to improve themselves increase our hopes for the future.” he said.
At the end of the program, where a folk dance show was also performed, students who received literacy certificates were given their certificates. The exhibition, which was open to visitors throughout the day, featured many handcrafted products, especially rugs, wood burning, handicrafts, wire breaking, knitting, painting, philography and recycled materials.
