GAZİANTEP (AA) – Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır said, “There is a Turkey that is rising to higher levels in global value chains with its strengthening industrial infrastructure, qualified production capacity and technology-oriented initiatives.” he said. Minister Kacır attended the Silk Road Development Agency Projects opening and protocol signing ceremony held at OSB College in Gaziantep. Speaking here, Kacır said that they have achieved groundbreaking success in many fields from economy to industry, from technology to exports.
Stating that there is now a Turkey that gives confidence, produces stability and continues its development journey with determination despite all the tests of the geography it is in, Kacır said, “There is a Turkey that rises to higher levels in the global value chains with its strengthened industrial infrastructure, qualified production capacity and technology-oriented breakthroughs. We are talking about a Turkey that now designs and develops its own technology and competes with the world in a wide field ranging from the defense industry to space technologies, from automotive to renewable energy.” he said.
Stating that they created works that activated production, employment, investment and local potential in all 81 provinces in a period of 23 years, which can be described as the “golden period” in Turkey’s history, Kacır said, “With its industry, trade, export capacity and entrepreneurial spirit, Gaziantep takes its place among the leading cities of this great development move. As the Ministry of Industry and Technology, we accelerated the development of Gaziantep with planned industrial areas, the opportunities we provided to our SMEs and our regional development projects.” As a matter of fact, in the last 23 years, we have brought 5 new organized industrial zones to our city in order to pave the way for planned industrialization, to bring our investors together with more qualified production areas and to expand Gaziantep’s industrial infrastructure.” he said.
Stating that they increased the total size of organized industrial zones from 2 thousand 570 hectares to 9 thousand 326 hectares, Minister Kacır said: “With the Fırat-Gaziantep OSB Water Transmission Line Project, which we opened last year, we took a historical step to meet the water needs of Gaziantep industry with high efficiency. Thanks to the water we delivered to our organized industrial zone from the Euphrates River, we eliminated the need for underground resources for water supply.
By putting our Gaziantep Model Factory into service, we have provided our city with an important infrastructure that will increase the lean production, digital transformation and efficiency-oriented capacity of our industrialists. “We built a new industrial site in Islahiye in order to repair the damages of the industrial enterprises damaged by the earthquake and to strengthen the industrial infrastructure in our city.” Kacır stated that they brought 11 R&D centers, design centers and 2 technoparks to the city in order to increase the innovative capacity of Gaziantep industry and increase the added value in production.
– 9 billion lira support to Gaziantep by KOSGEB. Kacır stated that they provided 9 billion lira support to SMEs, which have an important share in the growth and development of Gaziantep, through KOSGEB, and said, “With our investment incentive system, we paved the way for 742 billion lira investment and over 116 thousand jobs in our city. “With our new incentive system, we continue to support our entrepreneurs who say ‘I am also involved in the development of this country’ with the effort and effort of their minds.” he said.
Stating that they are carrying out a development campaign that transforms idle potential into production, responds to local needs and improves the competence of cities with technology with the “Local Development Move Incentive Program”, one of the new incentive systems, Kacır continued as follows: “In the first call of the program, we received investment applications worth a total of 4.5 billion liras for the production of value-added products from pepper waste, the production of medium and high technology textile machinery, the production of regenerated yarn and the production of citric acid.
The support titles of the program we updated.” This year, we received investment applications worth 7.7 billion liras in the fields of environmentally friendly packaging product production, high-quality input production for food, chemistry and similar sectors, medium and high technology machinery and mechanical systems production, and high value-added technical textile products and functional fabric production. We will provide financial support of up to 301 million liras and a tax deduction of 50 percent of the investment for these projects.
“While we build our local development goals on a strong foundation and with determination in the Türkiye Century, it is our priority to implement projects that reflect the richness, potential and qualified human resources of our city.” – 1.9 billion lira support for 633 projects. Stating that they provided 1.9 billion lira support to 633 development projects with the Silk Road Development Agency, Kacır said, “Today, we are also signing 6 projects that will be implemented with the support of the GAP Regional Development Administration and the Silk Road Development Agency.
These projects, which will move our city’s agricultural production infrastructure forward, contribute to women’s employment, and support the participation of individuals with special needs in social life, will accelerate the socioeconomic development of Gaziantep. It will stimulate the local economy. “It will create new employment areas.” he said. Stating that they have carried vocational education beyond an understanding limited to four walls, Kacır said, “With the Gaziantep OSB Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School Workshop that we opened today, we are taking an important step that will contribute to the training of qualified technical personnel needed by our industry.
We will offer practical training opportunities to our young people with a total of 43 workshops and laboratories located in the workshop building with a total closed area of 17 thousand square meters. “In the coming period, we will continue to commission works and services that will accelerate Gaziantep’s development journey.” he said. OSB Chairman of the Board of Directors Cengiz Şimşek, Silk Road Development Agency Secretary General Ahmet Paksu and GAP Regional Development Administration President Hasan Maral also made speeches.
After the speeches, Kacır and his entourage signed the signature protocol of the projects of the Silk Road Development Agency and GAP Regional Development Administration. Governor Kemal Çeber and Metropolitan Mayor Fatma Şahin were also present at the signing ceremony. Minister Kacır then visited the stands prepared by the students and the workshops he opened.
